Proof that I'm Just an Old Mom that Knows Nothing About Fashion!

Livi spilled on her shirt during lunch on Tuesday. Instead of changing her whole outfit, I just got her a clean shirt. I wasn't too concerned that it didn't match, because I knew we were just staying home that afternoon. After I put it on, she just stood there with a weird look on her face. I said, "Okay, Livi, you can play for a few minutes while I clean up the rest of the lunch mess."
She continued to give me a weird look, then slowly walked away while mumbling, "What the heck....I'm gonna wear this with that....I'm gonna look silly today."

The Stressful Life of a Two-Year-Old

I was rocking Livi after her nap the other day. Ethan had just finished his nap and was walking into the living room to sit with us. Livi said, "How was your nap, Ethan? Mine was frustrating."

Alone Time?

As I approached Olivia playing the other day, she said, "I just want to be alone."
I can respect that. I have those moments myself. I said, "Okay," and walked away.
Then Olivia said, "But you can talk to me when I'm alone."
I think we need to review the definition of alone.

During Lunch Yesterday.....

Livi: "I have two names."
Me: "Oh, what are they?"
Livi: "Mommy is my other name. I'm a mommy that takes over yards cuz some mommies do that."
Me: "How do you take over a yard?"
Livi: "You just pick it up and give it to Moosie, and you give him a snake, so he can eat it. Then he will get venom in his mouth. And I'm a princess in a dress on a lonely drive, but Moose will climb up and get me."
I hope our lunch dates always bring me this much joy!

Caution: Gross Post!

Olivia sneezed the other day, and some snot shot out onto her lips. She stuck her tongue out and stated, "Mmmm! My snot tastes good!"

I Can't Believe My....

Last night Ethan and Olivia were playing a computer game when Ethan said, "Wow! I can't believe my eyes!"
Then Olivia shouted, "Wow! I can't believe my hair!"

Bad Words from Sweet Mouths

Sometimes Olivia still wants help getting off of the potty. She's a really tiny girl, and sometimes it's tough for her to get down on her own. Last night, I was cleaning up the supper mess while she was going potty when I heard her shout from the bathroom. When I went to the bathroom to help her she said, "Mommy, I said I'm done dammit."
Now remember, that sentence came out of the mouth of a sweet, tiny girl. I had to have heard her wrong right!? I said, "What, Honey?"
She said, "I was hollerin' for you, and I said I'm done dammit."
"What!?"
"I said I'm done dammit."
Ok. I guess that really is what she said. We had to have a little talk about how dammit is a bad word. Hopefully we won't be hearing it again anytime soon! But just between us, it's really funny to hear such naughty words come out of such a sweet little mouth!

Table Sitting

A couple weeks ago, my mom was watching Olivia and the other day care kids while I picked up Ethan from school. While I was gone, Olivia climbed on top of the kitchen table. My mom said, "Olivia, what would your mommy say if she saw you up there."
Olivia replied, "She would say, oh, you're sitting on the table. Good job. Keep doin' it."
What a little stinker!

Girl Talk

Olivia was helping Josh install new light switches in the living room last week. It's so cute watching the two of them work together. Livi really enjoys helping Daddy with projects! It's a great bonding time for the both of them. They were having a nice little conversation when Livi said, "Dad, you just did some girl talk."
Josh replied, "Oh, sorry."
To which Livi responded, "But that's fine."

When I Grow Up, I Want to Be....

I sometimes let Olivia join Ethan's Sunday School class on the days I teach. Last Sunday we were talking about the important job that God gave Moses. I asked all the kids what they wanted to be when they grew up. Olivia said, "A fish!"

We Call Them Pot Holders....

....Olivia prefers to call them hot rods. I'm not really sure why, but there was no convincing her otherwise!

Why Do You Like Lemonade?

The other day, Olivia was playing with her kitchen set and told me she was drinking lemonade. I asked, "Do you like lemonade?"
She responded, "Yes!"
I said, "Why do you like lemonade?"
She replied, "Because it looks like pee."
Wow! Really, Livi?!

Livi's Friends!

When I went to Olivia's room to get her out of bed the other day, she held her cow and bunny stuffed animals in her hands, and said, "These are my friends.....but, Bunny doesn't talk."
I thought, oh that's very grown-up of her to explain to me that even though she can pretend her toys are her friends, they still don't actually talk. I responded, "Bunny doesn't talk?"
Livi said, "No, Cow does though."
Hmmm? I wonder what that means?

Olivia's Yin Yin!

Why is it a yin yin, you ask? Well, because it goes "yyyyin yyyyin," of course! It still makes me laugh when she asks to play with her yin yin every day!

High Self-Esteem!

The other morning, I said, "I love you, Olivia."
She responded, "I love myself, too!"

Movies!

We rented movies recently. Josh and I picked out a blu-ray to watch after the kids went to bed, and Ethan and Olivia each picked out a DVD from their free children's selection. The blu-ray came in a blue case, and the kids' DVDs came in white cases. Olivia called her DVD a white-ray!

Wait!

Sometimes Josh will start the car while I'm still getting everything loaded or buckling the kids into their car seats. Almost every time, Olivia will shout, "Don't leave without Mommy!" Well, yesterday Ethan and I walked to Sunday School, and Josh and Olivia drove there later to meet us for church. After Josh buckled Olivia in her car sear, he walked around the rear of the car to get in. Olivia shouted, "Don't leave without yourself, Dad!"

Sleep Tight, Pencils!

While working on an art project recently, I caught Olivia stuffing colored pencils into her shorts. When I asked her about it, she said, "I'm tucking them in for a nap."

We Call Them Capital and Lowercase...

Olivia refers to them as baby o and mommy O.

Organized People

Livi came up to me with a toy yesterday morning and said, "It's for organized people."
Wondering if she actually knew the meaning of the word organized, I asked, "What's an organized person? Are you organized?"
She responded, "No. It's when you wear a watch."
"Oh, organized people wear watches?"
"Yes."
Well, she's kind of right.

Weed!

Josh's nickname for Olivia is Weed. I'm not quite sure how it all started. I think it transformed from Deedle to Deedle Weedle to Weedle to Weedy to Weed. Josh was cuddling with Olivia before bed the other night, and he asked her, "Are you a weed."
She responded, "No, but I smoke weed."
Josh and I both said, "What!?!?"
She said it again, "I smoke weed."
You must know that no one in our household partakes in this activity, nor do we know anyone who does. I have no idea where this came from!

Dr. Peter

Olivia and I have enjoyed playing with the doctor kit a lot lately. She always says, "Mommy, you are Maddie and I am Dr. Peter." Our family doctor is Dr. Peterson.
One time I asked her, "Do you mean Dr. Peterson?"
She said, "No! I'm Dr. Peter!" And it's been Dr. Peter since!
Most of the time while I'm Maddie and Livi is Dr. Peter, she tells me that I need stitches. Which is pretty funny considering she has never had or seen anyone with stitches.
This morning she said something different though. She looked at my face, moved some hair around, and said, "Huh, I never sawed that before."
Well, that's not usually a phrase you want to hear from your doctor!

The World Through Olivia's Eyes!

Here are a few pictures from Olivia's camera.....
The kitchen floor.
 Bro Bro!
 Whoops! Holding the camera backwards!
Trying out the camera's special features with baby.

 New Dora Trike.
 Tinkerbell Slipper.
Evidence that she colored all over her face with markers.
 Foot!
 Mommy!
 Holding the camera backwards again!
And this one is my favorite. She set her little dolls on the table and told me, "I need to take a picture of my kids."

The Blue Thing!

Usually Olivia wakes up crying in the morning, but this morning she was just talking away when I came to get her out of her crib. This is what she told me, "The blue thing gets dark when you put on my blanket and I lay down."
I asked, "What blue thing?"
She repeated, "The blue thing gets dark when you put on my blanket and I lay down."
"I know, but what's the blue thing."
"The blue thing gets dark when you put on my blanket and I lay down."
"Do you mean the sky gets dark at night?"
"The blue thing gets dark when you put on my blanket and I lay down."
"Oh, okay."
Later I asked her," Olivia, I mean Fiona, tell about the blue thing again."
"The blue thing gets dark, and I lay down with my pillow pet, and my bunny, and my giraffe."
Anybody have any guesses on what the blue thing is?

Potty Names

I already told you that Olivia calls her pee, "soup," but now she has come up with more potty names. Sometimes her pee is "noodles" or "noodle soup" now, and when she poops, she says, "I'm makin' chicken." There have even been a few occasions when she has asked for a spoon to stir it. (And no, I don't give her one!) Sorry for the gross post, but it will be funny to look back on someday when she's older and totally embarrassed!

Boots

Josh's hunting boots had gotten wet, so he was using my hair dryer to dry them before going out hunting again. Curious little Olivia was watching him very closely. I asked her, "What's Daddy doing?"
She replied, "Gettin' hair boots!"

That's Not My Name!

Most of you already know this, but I wanted to post it for the record. Olivia has taken it upon herself to change her name. Afterall, she is a princess, and she deserves a princess name, right?! If you ever slip up, and call her Olivia, Livi, or Deedle, (her former nickname) she will say, "That's not my name." She has even tattled on Ethan for calling her "Livi." Yes, this is serious! You must remember to call her Fiona, Jasmine, or Ariel.

"Pee" Soup!

While Olivia was going potty the other day she said, "I'm makin' some soup."

Skim vs. Whole

Olivia wanted some milk the other day while we were visiting my mom. My mom only had skim milk, so we put a little in a cup for Miss Livi. She took one sip and said, "I don't want water."

More Beer Talk from my Little Sweetheart!

After nap the other day, we went out to the backyard to play. As I stepped outside, I said, "Brrr! It's kind of cold out today!"
Olivia responded, "Yeah! We should drink some beer!"
Kind of shocked, (but only kind of shocked, knowing Livi's dad) I asked, "Why?!"
She said, "to get warm!"
Oh no, Josh! What have you created!

Just Like Daddy!

I was rocking Olivia before nap the other day. She was drinking milk from her AVENT brand sippy cup. She pointed to the letters "AVENT" on the side of the cup, and said, "P.B.R."
Daddy was so proud when we told him that Livi was pretending to drink his favorite beer!

Understanding a Toddler

The other day, Olivia mumbled some jibber-jabber to Josh and me. I asked, "What?" She said it again, but we still didn't get it.
We asked her to repeat herself one more time, but we still didn't understand her, so Josh just said, "Yeah."
Olivia's face lit up as she exclaimed, "You will?!"
Uh-Oh! What did we just promise?!

Backwards Sentences!

Olivia is a great little talker for not even being 2-years-old yet! But lately she has been mixing up the words in her sentences a bit. It's actually pretty funny! Here are a few examples....
"Done yet, Daddy, are you?"
"That cookie, I like!"
